WordPress Security Issue & latest threat with TimThumb Script

Wednesday 3rd August 2011 | by harish | This post is in: News, WordPress

Recently, many websites using a popular script timthumb.php were hacked.

More on this can be found at:

This is a serious issue and should not be taken lightly. If you have purchased your theme from a Premium WordPress theme vendor I suggest you visit their site and ask them about the same so that you can get updated files for that theme.

If you have a WordPress based website, its advisable that you either contact your developer or follow WordPress on twitter to make sure you update your websites regularly with latest versions of WordPress and never share your password with anyone.

On a ending note, I would like to remind you again never to forget keeping backups of your WordPress based websites.

One very popular feature of WordPress is its rich plugin architecture which allows users and developers to extend its abilities beyond the core installation. WordPress has a database of over 24,000 plugins[11], each of which offer custom functions and features enabling users to tailor their site to their specific needs. These customizations range from SEO (Search Engine Optimization) enhancers to content displaying features, such as the addition of widgets and navigation bars..
